Fun Size Trending Topics September 23, 2021. His Name? St. Dangerous Of Course CD929

We just wanna keep you posted on what’s coming up in music and what’s going on at the station. There’s usually quite a lot. Welcome to What’s Up Wednesdays.

Friday Album Releases:

  • The highly-anticipated In Times New Roman… by Queens of the Stone Age will be out Friday. We play “Emotion Sickness” here on the station but that surely only scratches the surface of the first album Queens of the Stone Age have released since Villians in 2017. Frontman Josh Homme has been through many tumultuous life events in the intervening time (including but not limited to a rough divorce, a custody battle, and cancer), which will surely make for an emotional series of songs. Homme told Revolver “Over the last couple years, I’ve done a lot of therapy, but at the end of the day, I understand how to proceed, moving forward with the religion that I use — music.”
  • Django Django are officially releasing the final collected album Off Planet, an album presented in four parts (each part a different planet). The band have pivoted sounds yet again, this time taking cues from ’90s house music.
  • Killer Mike releases his first solo album in eleven years with Michael. The album features Killer Mike’s school photo from when he was nine years old and promises to tell the story of a nine-year-old growing up in Atlanta with dreams of becoming a rapper.
  • After a year of heavy releases in 2022, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard release their first album of 2023, PetroDragonic Apocalypse
or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation
    .
  • Yusuf/Cat Stevens is releasing King of a Land, an album he has been working on for a decade which is themed around the idea of peace.
  • Deer Tick return with Emotional Contracts.
  • Bright Eyes are issuing three EP companions to their most recent albums.
