We just wanna keep you posted on what’s coming up in music and what’s going on at the station. There’s usually quite a lot. Welcome to What’s Up Wednesdays.

Friday Album Releases:

• Portugal. The Man are releasing Chris Black Changed My Life, an album dedicated to writer, director, and producer Chris Black, a friend of the band who passed away in 2019. You’ve heard the single “Dummy” playing on the air, now be prepared for the whole album, which features contributions from artists like Edgar Winter, Black Thought, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Our own Grayson Kelly has heard the album and highly recommends it.
• Geese are releasing their second album 3D Country.
• Albert Hammond Jr. releases Melodies on Hiatus, his first solo album in five years.
• M. Ward is releasing Supernatural Thing.
• Valley finally release their sophomore album Lost in Translation, their first album since 2019.

Upcoming Events:

In case you haven’t had a chance to check out our events calendar, here are the events coming up this week:

• The “Interwoven” event is taking place at Riffe Gallery all the way through July 7th. This event is a celebration of fiber and the many forms it takes. Artists included utilize fiber to “explore topics such as contemporary culture, personal narratives, influences, and emotions that lie just below the surface of our consciousnesses.”

• Pierce the Veil and The Used play at the Andrew J. Brady Music Center with support from Don Bronco and Girlfriends.

• TALK will be appearing in our Big Room at 1 pm. You can hear the set on the air at 3 pm.
• Experience BAM Thursdays at the Columbus Museum of Art. Enjoy live music, great art, delicious bites, vendors and fresh libations in their garden space, as well as free general admission to the gallery from 5-9 pm.
• On Thursdays, you can catch Vinyl: A Very ’80s Musical over at Shadowbox Live! If you miss it Thursday, no worries! You can catch the matinee on Sunday at 2 pm.
• GDEX: The Midwest’s Premier Gaming Expo kicks off at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

• Codefendants play in our Big Room at noon. You can hear it on the airwaves at 3 pm! The Big Room is brought to you by G & J Pepsi-Cola Bottlers.
• The Re:SET Concert series kicks off at the KEMBA Live! festival setting with boygenius, Clairo, Dijon, and Bartees Strange.
• Shadowbox Live! presents Body Language, a sketch comedy and musical experience.

• Day two of the Re:SET Concert series at the KEMBA Live! festival setting with LCD Soundsystem, Jamie xx, IDLES, and L’Rain.
• If you missed Shadowbox Live! presents Body Language, Saturday is your second chance to catch it.

• On the final night of Re:SET Concert series at the KEMBA Live! festival setting, catch Steve Lacy, James Blake, Toro y Moi, and Fousheé.
• As mentioned above, you can catch a matinee performance of Vinyl: A Very ’80s Musical over at Shadowbox Live! at 2 pm!
