We just want to keep you posted on what’s coming up in music and what’s going on at the station. There’s usually quite a lot. Welcome to What’s Up Wednesdays.

 Friday Album Releases:

  • Blur release their first album since 2015, The Ballad of Darren.
  • Greta Van Fleet release what promises to be a raw album on which the band built their own universe. Starcatcher features the single “Meeting the Master,” which you’ve undoubtedly heard on the station.
  • Guided By Voices release Welshpool Frillies, their second album of 2023.
  • Outside Problems from Andrew Bird lands on Friday.
  • Mid Air from Paris Texas releases.
  • Cut Worms from Cut Worms is out Friday.
  • Barbie: The Album drops! Don’t forget to join us at the Gateway on Thursday for the Barbie movie release party!
    Editor’s note: I’m really sorry local record stores, but I did preorder the Walmart exclusive. I’ll hand in my badge.

  • Tonight: Sad Summer Fest with Taking Back Sunday, Motion City Soundtrack, Pvris, and more takes place in Cincinnati at the Andrew J. Brady Music Center!

7/20

  • The clash of sunshine and shadows is upon us as Barbie and Oppenheimer both premiere. Catch the explosion of pink at the premiere party for the two movies at The Gateway on Thursday from 6-9. Our own Grayson Kelly will be broadcasting live from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Experience BAM Thursdays at the Columbus Museum of Art. Enjoy live music, great art, delicious bites, vendors, and fresh libations in their garden space, as well as free general admission to the gallery from 5-9 p.m.
  • On Thursdays, you can catch Vinyl: A Very ’80s Musical over at Shadowbox Live! If you miss it on Thursday, no worries! You can catch the matinee on Sunday at 2 p.m.
  • Thursday’s Dario Argento film at The Wexner Center is Opera.
