We just want to keep you posted on what’s coming up in music and what’s going on at the station. There’s usually quite a lot. Welcome to What’s Up Wednesdays.

 Friday Album Releases:

  • PJ Harvey releases I Inside the Old Year Dying, her first album of new material since 2016.
  • Grouplove I Want it all Right Now is out Friday.
  • Dominic Fike is releasing his second album Sunburn, allegedly an album about “heartbreak and regret, addiction, sex, and jealousy.”
  • Gus Dapperton brings us Henge.
  • Time Will Wait for No One from Local Natives comes out on Friday.
  • Taylor Swift is releasing her much-anticipated version of Speak Now.
  • Yellowcard are releasing an EP, Childhood Eyes. In a statement on Twitter, the band said, “We feel like these 5 songs represent the Yellowcard sound that fans know and love in the best possible way. We are so honored to be partnering with Equal Vision for this new chapter of our career.”

Upcoming Events:

In case you haven’t had a chance to check out our events calendar, here are the events coming up this week:

  • Just a couple of days left to check out the “Interwoven” event taking place at Riffe Gallery all the way through July 7th. This event is a celebration of fiber and the many forms it takes. Artists included utilize fiber to “explore topics such as contemporary culture, personal narratives, influences, and emotions that lie just below the surface of our consciousnesses.”

  • Experience BAM Thursdays at the Columbus Museum of Art. Enjoy live music, great art, delicious bites, vendors and fresh libations in their garden space, as well as free general admission to the gallery from 5-9 pm.
  • On Thursdays, you can catch Vinyl: A Very ’80s Musical over at Shadowbox Live! If you miss it Thursday, no worries! You can catch the matinee on Sunday at 2 pm.
  • The Dario Argento Retrospective kicks off at the Wexner Center for the Arts and runs through August 17th. Thursday’s featured film is The Bird with the Crystal Plumage.

  • The Struts will be joining us in The Big Room for a special performance ahead of their show at The Bluestone Tuesday night. Hear it on the air at 3 pm.

Our DJ schedule is a little different this week and next.

  • Grayson is filling in for Brian Phillips in the mornings this week and next week.
  • Laura is here today but will be out the rest of the week and the early part of next week. Just Emma will be filling in.
  • Tom Butler is filling in for Grayson for your drive home.
  • The Mark Show will be filling in for Tom 7 pm- 12 am today and tomorrow. Nate, Bailey, and Adam will be covering Friday and next week.
