Fun Size Trending Topics September 23, 2021. His Name? St. Dangerous Of Course CD929

We just want to keep you posted on what’s coming up in music and what’s going on at the station. There’s usually quite a lot. Welcome to What’s Up Wednesdays.

 Friday Album Releases:

  • When K. Flay was in our Big Room earlier this year, she teased the release of Mono, her first album of new material since she experienced total hearing loss in her right ear. She told Tom Butler that Mono: “feels like a debut record” and that she’s “like a born-again musician.” The fact that the album is inspired by such a pivotal moment in her life combined with the killer quality of singles “Raw Raw” and “Shy” means we likely have a spectacular album to look forward to.
  • Barenaked Ladies are releasing their 18th studio album on Friday. In Flight was preceded by the single “Too Old.”
  • Pretenders release Relentless, their first album on Parlophone. Production delays set the album’s release two weeks behind its originally announced release date but the lead singles promise another great Pretenders record.
  • Nation of Language are unveiling Strange Disciple. Their second album, A Way Forward provided them with breakthrough success and surely Strange Disciple will maintain their momentum.
  • Japanese-American singer/songwriter Mitski calls The Land is Inhospitable and So Are We (out Friday) her “most American album.” She will be exploring themes of love and drawing inspiration from spaghetti Western soundtracks.
  • Thirty Seconds to Mars release their first new album in five years: It’s the End of the World but It’s a Beautiful Day.
  • The second album by The Beaches (Blame My Ex) drops.
  • Willie Nelson may not be recording a rock album prior to his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this fall, but he is releasing his 74th solo studio album Bluegrass on Friday.
