On Tidbit Thursdays, we explore some recent stories in music news. Let’s go!

• Tracy Chapman just became the first black woman to have a song she wrote alone go #1 on the country charts thanks to the Luke Combs cover. Chapman told Billboard that she never expected to be in the country charts but that she’s “honored to be there.” The song also sits at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, four positions higher than the original version of the song. Chapman says she’s “happy for Luke and his success and grateful that new fans have found and embraced ‘Fast Car.’”
• Adele recently mused on the topic of modern concert etiquette while holding a t-shirt cannon, reminding her fans not to throw anything at her.
• Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau implored Taylor Swift via Twitter to make some Canadian stops on her tour.

• The Eagles announced the first leg of their farewell tour today featuring Steely Dan as openers.
• Del Water Gap announced a new album, I Miss You Already + I Haven’t Left Yet (out September 29th), which will feature contributions from Arlo Parks.

• In the tradition of Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain,” Olivia Rodrigo has been cagey about the inspiration for her latest single, “Vampire” which came out Friday. She and producer Dan Nigro have also been working on new lyrics for the radio edit, some more serious than others (Editor’s note: “Fame Hunter” has my vote, for the record). • Nick Cave and Debbie Harry have just collaborated for the fourth time on a cover of “On the Other Side,” a song written by Gun Club’s Jeffrey Lee Pierce. The cover is part of a compilation album of Pierce’s songs, The Task Has Overwhelmed Us (out September 29th).
