CD102.5 Leaving the FM Airwaves, Going All Digital

CD102.5 is in its last hours on the FM airwaves.

“Recently, we were unable to reach an agreement with the owner of the FCC License, and at 12:01am on November 1st, CD102.5 will leave the FM airwaves,” a social media post from CD102.5 announced.

However, it’s not the end of the beloved Columbus station.

“Make no mistake: we plan to move forward and continue broadcasting in the digital realm,” the post continued. “With the connectivity of the internet in cars and homes, with smart phones and smart devices, the digital world is the future.”

Independently owned and operated, CD102.5 – or some iteration thereof – has been on the airwaves for 30 years. Making its debut as CD101 in 1990, the station’s license was sold in 2010 and moved frequencies to 102.5.

“As we move exclusively to the digital realm, we will have more freedom to play the music that YOU want to hear—to promote local artists, to engage with the community, and to do all of the things that we’ve always done—but better!” the post says.

CD102.5’s digital stream is available at cd1025.com/stream. A follow up post mentions that an app is also in the works.
